PE’s Best Filming Opportunities: AGMs + Portfolio Days

A standard filming day should include multiple interviews to maximise cost-effectiveness and output. AGMs and portfolio days provide a unique opportunity to gather interviews and build a reusable content library for fundraising, LP updates and origination. We use this approach with several clients so they are set up for the months ahead when everything resets after each AGM and portfolio day. Plan tightly, prioritise key voices, and capture what you need to shape the narrative for the coming quarters.

1) Stack the day with interviews

  • Lock in an order of the day. Group contributors by theme or strategy to avoid overlap.
  • Prepare a question bank mapped to outputs: fundraising highlights, deal origination, impact/sustainability, value creation, talent.
  • Capture cutaways for cleaner edits.
  • Agree approvals and clarify compliance points in advance.
  • Include the next generation of team leaders to raise their profile.

2) Portfolio days: showcase partnership with GPs

  • Interview every management team. Focus on how GP support moves the dial.
    Prompts: board cadence, value creation levers, KPI shifts, buy-and-build, digital, internationalisation, impact/sustainability, competitive edge and points of differentiation.
  • Record short wins and one deeper case study per company.
  • Capture CEO roundtables or montages on “what good support looks like”.
  • Aim for a repeatable pack per company: 60 to 90-second social cut, 3 to 4-minute case study and quote cards.

3) AGMs: principals, team and selected LPs

  • Film key sessions, Q&A and milestone slides. Secure a quiet room for sit-downs.
  • Interview managing partners, heads of investment, IR and the portfolio team. Get forward views for the next 12 months.
  • Pre-arrange brief LP comments where possible, with written consent and talking points (usually for internal use or workshops).
  • Capture team interactions and networking for texture.

  • GP leadership clips by theme for decks, social and data rooms.
